Operation Back to School Chandler

For Our City Chandler is proud to present the biggest back-to-school collaborative donation drive for Chandler students in need.  Chandler K-12 students can receive backpacks filled with school supplies, shoes, uniforms, socks and underwear (as they last) in addition to information on free after school programs, giveaways and prizes!

6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Chandler High School, 350 N. Arizona Ave.


The biggest back-to-school donation drive for Chandler students is back again this year! Chandler K-12 students in need can receive backpacks/supplies, shoes, uniforms, socks and underwear (as they last) in addition to information on free after school programs, giveaways and prizes!

**Please use this checklist to ensure you are prepared:​

  • I will bring a previous report card or enrollment form to confirm attendance at Chandler schools OR I will bring a current utility bill to confirm Chandler residence.
  • My child/children will be present at event.
  • Parents/Guardians should bring some form of ID for themselves as well.

Online applications for free or reduced priced meals for the FY 19-20 school year will be available - with staff available to assist.

**If you do not bring these items with you, you will not be eligible to receive any of the supplies distributed at this event.

¡Vuelve la campaña más grande de donaciones de regreso a la escuela para los estudiantes de Chandler! Los estudiantes necesitados de Kínder al 12º grado de Chandler podrán recibir mochilas/suministros, zapatos, uniformes, calcetines y ropa interior (hasta agotar existencias), además de información sobre programas GRATUITOS para después de la escuela, regalos, ¡y PREMIOS!

**Por favor use esta lista de verificación para asegurar que esté preparado/a para:

  • Yo llevaré una tarjeta previa de calificaciones o forma de inscripciones para confirmar la asistencia a la escuela en Chandler, O llevaré una factura actual de servicios públicos para confirmar la residencia en Chandler.
  • Mi/s hijo/s estará/n presente/s en el evento.
  • Los/las padres/madres/custodios también deben llevar alguna forma de identificación de sí mismos.

Las solicitudes en línea para los alimentos gratuitos o a precios reducidos para el año escolar fiscal 19-20 estarán disponibles con el personal disponible para ayudar.

How can you participate in Operation Back to School Chandler this year?

Event Funding Sponsor


Organizations can get involved in this event by contributing funding at a number of different sponsorship levels. 100% of your sponsorship funding goes towards backpacks, supplies & 

shoes for Chandler children. **Download a sponsorship packet now in the next section.**

Uniform Donations


 The local LDS community organizes an annual drive to help provide students with a new uniform for their first day of school. Specific needs are given by school -- more information coming!

Backpack and Supply Collection


Collection sites (see donation site locations below) for any of the following items: Shoes (any size or gender K-12), Underwear (any size or gender K-12), Empty New Backpacks or School Supplies.

Shoe Donations


Shoes (any size or gender for K-12 students are needed.  Collect shoes within your organization or drop them off at one of our donation sites 

(see sites below).

Stuff Backpacks We Provide You


We have empty backpacks (K to 2, 3 to 5 and Jr/High) that your organization can stuff. You can select as little as 10 backpacks OR as much as 100!  We will coordinate and pick-up backpacks with your organization contact.



Stylist are needed to cut boys and girls hair at this event. The event will be on Saturday, July 20 from 6:30 to 10:30 A.M.

Donation sites are now open throughout the City for you to drop-off any items for this event.  

**Please note -- only NEW items will be accepted and distributed at this event.**

Volunteer Opportunities -- Now Available!!!

Inventory and Backpack Stuffing


 Wednesday, July 17    |   9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

 (Water Provided)  

Volunteers are needed to help inventory existing supplies at our Back to School warehouse. Groups of approx. 15 volunteers will pack the backpacks with donated supplies according to age level and organize donated shoes. We will also be moving heavy boxes full of stuffed backpacks.

Day Before Event


Friday, July 19    |   11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

(Pizza & Water Provided) 

This opportunity is not for the faint of heart! Heavy lifting and physical activity in the hot Arizona sun is the mission of the day. Thousands of backpacks and supplies are transferred from Chandler High's Auto Bay to the event sites. We will set-up in anticipation of the next day's event. Supplies are unloaded, directional banners secured, tables set out and the following areas are set-up: backpacks by grade level, socks/underwear, non-profit area, haircuts & shoes.

Saturday, July 20    |   5:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

(Snacks & Water Provided)

150+ volunteers must register to help on the event day.  Volunteer opportunities include:  

Line Monitors, Non-Profit area, Distribution, Guides (Spanish is helpful), Event Clean-up & other duties. Specific volunteer job descriptions will be listed on the sign-up link, when it is created.
